Dr. Christian Ploberger is an academic researcher and publisher. He held various Lecturer positions in the past, and is currently associated with Rajamangala University of Technology Tawan-OK, Bangkok. He was also invited as a Visiting Lecturer to Jiangsu University, China, where he delivered a short module on Global Governance (May 2024). He previously taught modules on Security Studies and Human Security; Comparative Regionalism; Global Governance, and on East Asia’s International Relations, with the climate change-development nexus included in the various modules. Aside from regularly publishing papers in academic journals he also published and authored several academic books: China’s BRI ‘Political Economic Perspective of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (Routledge 2020) and co-authored a book on ‘Sub-regionalism and International River Basins’ (2020) as well as edited a book on ‘China’s Belt and Road Initiative: the impact in sub-regional Southeast Asia, Routledge 2022) and on ‘River Basins and International Relations’ (2023). The most recent book publication record is linked to a book on Human Security (2025) he edited and contributed the theoretical chapter. As for article publications, one paper on ‘Global Governance failure hurts developing countries most: the case of the Paris Agreement and the 2030 Agenda’ in Forum for Development Studies (online January 2026) was published earlier this year while another research paper ‘Reinterpreting (International) Peace by Reconsidering the Meaning of Security.’ Has been included in the Palgrave Handbook on International Peace and Security (2026). Aside from lecturing and publishing, he was also offered on various occasions to be a Guest Speaker at Chinese, Thai and Indian Universities, focusing on topics like regionalism, human security, and global governance. From a geographic focus, all his research focuses on Asia, which he has visited regularly since the early 1990s.
