Dr. Lorenzo De Sio

Lorenzo De Sio is Professor of Political Science at Luiss Guido Carli University in Rome, where he coordinates the CISE (Italian Centre for Electoral Studies) and co-directs the Luiss Research Center on Democracy. He is also co-director of the bilingual Master’s programme in Government & Public Affairs and co-editor of the Italian Political Science Review. His research focuses on democracy and political representation, elections, voting behaviour, political parties, issue competition and public opinion, using quantitative and comparative methods. He has held research positions at the European University Institute, the University of California, Irvine, Stanford University and Sciences Po Paris. His work has appeared in journals including the American Political Science Review, Comparative Political Studies and West European Politics. His latest book is Democrazia addio (Laterza, 2026), on democratic responsiveness, political equality and the transformation of political representation.
