Dr. Nyíri Pál is Professor at the Institute of Global Studies, Budapest University of Economics (Corvinus) and Professor of Global History from an Anthropological Perspective at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam. His research focuses on the international mobility of Chinese elites, offering useful insights into China’s changing role in an interconnected world. He is the author of the book titled ‘Reporting for China: How Chinese Correspondents Work with the World’ (University of Washington Press) which provides a profound insight into Chinese foreign correspondents. He is also the co-editor of another enlightening book titled ‘Chinese Encounters in Southeast Asia: How People, Money, and Ideas from China Are Changing a Region’ (University of Washington Press), which sheds light on the transformation of societies in Southeast Asia due to Chinese migration, investments and other cultural interactions. Professor Nyíri is member of the editorial boards of The China Journal, the European Journal of Chinese Studies, and The Australian Journal of Anthropology as well as a member of the academic committee of the International Institute of Social History.
