The Battle for Perception: China’s Psychological Influence in Myanmar and its Implications for India
China’s growing influence in Myanmar is not only confined to infrastructure, trade and diplomacy. It increasingly involves the information and cognitive dimensions of strategic competition, through which Beijing seeks to shape perceptions, narratives and decision-making environments. Chinese strategic thinking incorporates psychological warfare, public opinion warfare and legal warfare under the broader frameworks of the “Three Warfares”, while more recently we can witness Chinese military thinking has expanded beyond the horizons of cognitive domain operations.
